A $50.00 donation can change a child’s life….
Once again, Mike Cole will be leading a team of volunteers into Cambodia as part of the Rotary Wheels for Learning Program. In its 14th year, the project’s aim is to provide bicycles to impoverished children of Cambodia so they may have the opportunity to attend school. As most rural children in Cambodia have to walk great distances to school, they simply cannot attend without the aid of a bicycle. Shortcuts through fields and jungle offer the prospect of encountering long forgotten landmines, unexploded ordinance, or poisonous snakes.
The team members who have volunteered to go to Cambodia do so at their own expense – 100% of your donation goes towards the purchase of a bicycle. To keep the costs low, as well as to support the local economy, the bicycles are purchased in Phnom Penh (the capital city of Cambodia), then transported out to the remote villages where our team assembles them for the children.
Our goal this year is to be able to distribute our 12,736 bicycle since the project started. To achieve this, we need to raise funds to purchase 674 bicycles. While a bicycle seems trivial, I can personally attest this simple act of kindness can truly be a life changing experience for the child who receives it.
A $50.00 donation will provide a gently used bicycle with a basket, bell and light to a deserving child. After each distribution, we will be sending out emails with pictures of the children who have benefited from your generosity and kindness. You will also receive a tax receipt for your 2025 tax deductions.
