How To Apply

A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE AWAITS YOU

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Start planning early

The Rotary Youth Exchange program is highly selective, so start planning as soon as possible. For long-term exchanges (LTEP), apply in September for exchanges beginning the following August; for the short-term program (STEP), also apply in September for the following summer. All District 7010 exchanges begin during the summer; there may be exceptions to the short term program which can only be determined by the STEP coordinator. For example, if you wish to travel when you’re in 11th grade, you should apply in September of your 10th-grade year. The reason for the early deadlines? Our sponsor Rotary clubs and district has an extensive selection and orientation process, which helps us identify the best candidates and prepare you well for your time as Youth Exchange students.

Contact Rotarians in your area

Youth Exchange is administered locally. Chances are Rotary clubs near you are involved in the program: There are about 20 Rotary clubs in our District that participate in this program. There is probably one near you. Identify the club closest to you HERE. You may also contact the District Youth Exchange Chair. Remember that participation in Youth Exchange varies from country to country, so check with your local Rotary club for details.

Fill out an application

After you’ve gotten in touch with your local Rotary club, they will guide you through their selection process. Normally you and your parents will be interviewed by Rotarians to ensure that you are a good fit for the program and complete a Preliminary Application. If you are selected by your local Rotary club you will be asked to compete the LTEP application. This is an extensive document and requires a visit to your doctor and your dentist.

Note:  If you are not in Rotary District 7010, you must apply with a Rotary club in your home country or district.  Club Locator
