District Governor's Theme

Welcome to DG Stephen Wilkinson's Corner

Today is July 1st, it marks the beginning of a new Rotary year. Let me extend my congratulations and thanks to all the club presidents and new club executives who will be serving their clubs in 2024-2025. Let me also give a special shout out to all the volunteers who served in 2023-24 with DG Juanita and who created hope in the world. This important initiative doesn’t end today. Instead, I am asking you all to Imagine how to Create Hope in the World by sharing the Magic of Rotary.
For me the Magic of Rotary includes the ability of each individual member joined in the ideal of service about self to be part of the many that come together to improve the lives and conditions for people in our communities. As we start this new year let us look at our own clubs to ensure that we are building an environment and club culture where all members and participants in our projects feel respected, valued and welcome. People thrive and serve their best when we feel that we belong.  Every Rotarian has a role in ensuring that this occurs.

So here are three things to start the year off right.
  1. Ensure that you update important club membership and officers’ data in ClubRunner and that your 2024-2025 goals are entered in Rotary Club Central.
  2. That you are reviewing the Rotary Action Plan with club members and ensuring that you club’s projects and plans are aligning with the four pillars.
  3. That you reach out to any existing members who you may not have seen lately at a meeting are at a project. They will be happy that you care enough to ask how they are and are truly interested in them.
It is July and club visits have begun. Be sure to reach out to your Assistant Governor to arrange for an official visit from them and me. I will attempt to make as many of your events that I can. I would prefer to participate at events that have several clubs collaborating or with other service clubs or community organizations.
One final thought from Dr. Benjamin E Mays about how time flies and we must use this scare resource.

RI President Stephanie Urchick celebrates the magic of Rotary. She says members create that magic with every project completed, every dollar donated, and every new member of Rotary.
