The project entailed the construction of a multi sink wash area at Donbun Primary School, Koh Sveang Village, Kampong Trach, Cambodia.

The project started in late October and was completed in December 2018 by local contractors who were supervised by Mr. Sokhal Seng, a Cambodian who has been working with the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst for the last five years.

Donbun Primary School has more than 300 students who have directly benefitted from the construction of the wash area. As the school is located within Koh Sveang Village, many of the villagers also use the wash area.
The primary beneficiaries are the school children who attend the school, as well as local villagers who have access to the site. The humanitarian need which was met was the provision of a wash are where the children could clean their hands after using the washroom and before eating. This practice eliminates or significantly reduces diseases caused by unsanitary conditions.

The secondary beneficiaries were the local contractors and labourers who were hired to build the wash station, providing much needed income to support their families.

The Rotary Club of Gravenhurst and Kirkland Lake contributed $1,614.50 which was then matched by a District 7010 Foundation Grant).

The school teachers have a small fund that can support minor repairs. They will also be able to contact Mr. Sokhal Seng's should they require additional assistance.

A team of 22 Canadians from the Rotary Wheels for Learning (which included 8 Rotarians from District 7010, and 1 Rotarian from outside the district, worked at the school for a day building 108 bicycles for some of the impoverished children.
