The clock is ticking. There are just 7 weeks left until the conference in Val D’Or
Last Chance to have discounted price for District Conference in Val D’Or. The price of the conference rises on 1 August so if you are planning on attending, register now for the lowest cost.
If this will be your first time attending the District conference, please note there is a 50% discount paid by the District.
If you are thinking about travelling to Val D’Or our committee has made several trips up to the area in preparation for the conference. Travel time is about 4 hours from North Bay. We are also planning on organizing a bus. If you would like to take advantage of this option, please e-mail me back and your name will be added to that list. Once the numbers taking the bus are known, the exact cost of the trip can be determined.
A reminder that if you haven’t yet signed up for the optional events, the number of attendees are restricted so register early to ensure you can attend the events that you want.
One of the options is a Fun Curling Bonspiel. Please note that this will now take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday September 18.
Your committee continues to organize high caliber speakers. This list continues to grow but here is what we have to date.
Wilf Wilkerson, Past Rotary International President is a key note speaker and will be attending the three day conference. As well, Stephanie Urchick a Trustee for the Rotary Foundation is a key note speaker. PRID Bryn Styles and Carolyn Ferguson, TRF coming on Friday to make a Special District Event Announcement. Edith Cloutier, the Executive Director of the Val D’Or Native Friendship Centre has won wide recognition for her work, including an Aboriginal Achievement Award for Public Service. Eric Tremblay from Canadian Malartic Mining will be a lunch speaker on Friday. Our newest addition to our speaker lineup is Marlaine Alix . She and her husband Pastor Daniel operate two orphanages in Haiti. They organized the Faith & Love in Action Organization in 1996 and are situated in Jacmel, Haiti. They also operate a number of schools in Haiti: one is in a remote mountain village, Marbial, which is located a few hours drive (and hike) from Jacmel. The school now has an enrollment of 420 and through a District 7010 matching grant the school has received most of its books and some other educational supplies.

Voilà votre dernière chance de pouvoir vous inscrire à la conférence à un rabais. Dès le premier août le coût de la conférence augmentera. Donc, si vous prévoyez être des nôtres à la conférence, je vous invite à vous inscrire dès maintenant à un taux plus bas.
Si cette conférence de district est la première à laquelle vous assisterez, vous n’aurez qu’à payer la moitié car le district offre les frais d’inscription à un rabais de 50 % à tous ceux et celles qui participent pour la première fois.
Voyager à Val d’Or prend environ 4 heures à partir de North Bay. Notre comité a fait le trajet à plusieurs reprises en préparation pour la conférence. Nous prévoyons également organiser un autobus. Si cette option vous intéresse, je vous prie de me le signaler dès que possible et votre nom sera ajouté à la liste. Dès que le nombre de personnes intéressées à prendre l’autobus sera confirmé, le coût du voyage sera calculé.
Un petit rappel que vous devez vous inscrire aux activités facultatives car le nombre de participants est limité. Inscrivez-vous tôt pour vous assurer de pouvoir assister aux événements que vous souhaitez.
Une des options est un tournoi de curling. S'il vous plaît noter que cette activité aura désormais lieu à 16 heures le jeudi 18 septembre.
Votre comité est fier des conférenciers de haut niveau qui sont à l’ordre du jour et cette liste continue à croître, mais voici ce que nous avons jusqu’à date :
Wilf Wilkinson, ancien Président du Rotary International est un conférencier principal et participera à la conférence les trois jours. En outre, Stephanie Urchick une fiduciaire de la Fondation Rotary est une conférencière principale. PRID Styles Bryn et Carolyn Ferguson, TRF y seront vendredi pour faire l’annonce d’un évènement de district spécial. Edith Cloutier, la directrice générale de « Val D'Or Native Friendship Centre » est reconnu de part et d’autre pour son travail, dont un prix des réalisations autochtones pour la fonction publique. Eric Tremblay, de l'exploitation minière Canadian Malartic sera conférencier du déjeuner le vendredi. L’ajout le plus récent à notre gamme de conférenciers est Marlaine Alix. Elle et son mari, pasteur Daniel dirigent deux orphelinats en Haïti. Ils ont organisé la foi et l'amour dans l'Organisation d'action en 1996 et sont situés à Jacmel, en Haïti. Ils opèrent également quelques écoles en Haïti, dont une située dans un village isolé de montagne, Marbial, qui est situé à quelques heures de route (et randonnée) de Jacmel. L'école a maintenant un effectif de 420 et par une subvention de contrepartie de district 7010, l'école a reçu la plupart de ses livres et d'autres fournitures scolaires.
