A message received by DG John Gordon, who wanted it passed on to everyone:

Guten Tag! (Good Day!)

It is my pleasure to extend President Tanaka’s personal invitation to all Rotarians, community leaders, and New Generations program participants to register to attend the first Peace Forum in Berlin, Germany, 30 November - 2 December 2012.

The theme of the Berlin Peace Forum is “Peace Without Borders.” It will emphasize the value of democracy in building peace and promote international understanding and cooperation. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear inspiring calls to action from Rotary leaders and other special guests
  • Participate in workshops and round table discussions
  • Learn about Rotary’s Intercountry Committees (ICCs) and the role they play in promoting understanding among nations
  • Visit the “Marketplace of Peace,” where club and district peace projects will be featured
  • Meet Rotary senior leaders, fellow Rotarians and New Generations program participants from all over the world
  • Enjoy the historic and cultural attractions of Berlin, one of Europe’s most vibrant cities

Please note, interpretation will be provided in English, French, and German.

We need your help to ensure that the Berlin Peace Forum is a success. Please share this message with Rotarians in your district and encourage them to spread the word about this important event. Click here to visit the Berlin Peace Forum website and register to attend.

In addition, please encourage clubs in your district to participate in the Berlin Marketplace of Peace by sharing their peace-related initiatives on Rotary Showcase. Projects that are registered on Rotary Showcase under the category of “peace and conflict prevention/resolution” by 31 October will be considered for inclusion in the Marketplace by means of a poster display with text and pictures. Clubs that submit a project for inclusion in the Marketplace may send a representative to present and discuss the project in person with forum participants. Click here for additional information and guidelines.

For additional information about the peace forums, watch a Rotary Global Peace Forums promotional video.

We hope to see you in Berlin to share Peace Through Service.

Sincerely,

Luis Vicente Giay
Past President, Rotary International
Chair and Convener of the Rotary Global Peace Forums
