Dear fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors --

Maternal and child health is a vital aspect of public health, as it impacts the well-being of families, communities, and nations.
Unfortunately, millions of women and children die each year due to preventable causes such as inadequate healthcare, malnutrition, and poverty. The goal of Rotary's Maternal and Child Health month is to promote access to quality healthcare, nutrition, and education to reduce maternal and child mortality rates globally. We do this with partnering with UNICEF and WHO.

Speaking of nutrition, Earth Day is on Sat April 22, 2023. The Plant Rich Diet Task Force of Environment Sustainability Rotary Action Group, (ESRAG) is sponsoring a Plant Rich Diet Challenge. The impact of a Plant Rich Diet is HUGE being ranked #2 by PROJECT DRAWDOWN in terms of individual solutions that will decrease heat trapping gases.

The 15-day Challenge is a lot of fun. You will receive information daily via email : there will be an expert speaker series, practical tips, cooking demonstrations and more. Please consider taking part and see what you can learn about what you eat and its effects on the health of our planet. Plant Rich Diet Challenge Registration Form

We are having the Indian Friendship Exchange, six couples, come to our district around 20th of May for two weeks. We are looking for hosts for the 24th for a few days. They are looking to learn about Canada and our Rotary district and projects and will be happy to speak to your Rotary club. We will also take them to Niagara Falls and the CN Tower. We are looking for Rotarians who want to go to India, 15th of November for two weeks to Gujarat state and end at the Taj Mahal. Please contact me at 249.360.5324 or  RichardDentonMDDG2022.23@gmail.com for more information. It will be a fun, inexpensive (no hotel costs) learning experience. Those back from the Philippines with PDG Steve Meadley, had a wonderful experience.

And back to talking about health, our own Colin Vickers, North Bay-Nipissing RC, was on the CBC Radio at North Bay event looking for potential stem cell donors | Morning North with Markus Schwabe | Live Radio | CBC Listen. Learn more here. Invite Colin to speak to your club.
