Dear Rotary Youth Exchange leaders,
On 19 March the Board of Directors of Rotary International met to discuss Rotary Youth Exchange and the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. President Holger issued a letter to leaders shortly following the meeting to announce their difficult and saddening decision to suspend Rotary Youth Exchange in-person exchanges until 1 July 2022. The Board considered feedback from the discussion with the Rotary Presidents and Youth Exchange leaders, your emails and letters, and recommendations from the Pandemic Task Force. Although we know this is disappointing for so many of you, we as your staff team will be here to support you in the year ahead as you prepare to resume exchanges.

Board decision and frequently asked questions
The full decision will be posted on the Board decisions page of My Rotary in the coming weeks. If you, your team, or students and families have additional questions about this decision and its impact, please visit the Rotary and the coronavirus impact: Frequently Asked Questions page on My Rotary.

Engage students through virtual exchanges
While not a replacement for traditional exchanges, virtual exchanges can still provide valuable opportunities for young people to engage in intercultural dialogue and learn from people with different viewpoints from around the world. For virtual exchanges to be meaningful, however, they need to be structured and intentional. Watch the webinar that we held in January to learn more about the benefits of virtual exchanges and how to begin planning them today.
