Mora Austin is proud to be the president of the Rotary Club of Midland. The 50 members of the Rotary Club of Midland are actively involved in their local and international communities. They are trying to make Midland “the kindest town in Ontario”.

One of the club members’ favourite projects is the “Random Acts of Kindness Day” which is held in May each year. They provide a free lunch and entertainment at the Midland Town Dock and encourage community members to “pay it forward” and make Midland the kindest town in Ontario on that day. This is a real “feel good” project for Midland Rotarians – it’s easy and hands on, as members barbecue, serve lunch and interact with the hundreds of community members and visitors who join them for the food and festivities. Imagine if more clubs participated in a similar event - District 7010 could be the “kindest district in the world” on that day!
Midland Rotarians like to have fun serving their community. They are involved in numerous projects, events and fundraisers throughout the year. In late May, they host the “Party on the Dock” featuring local bands, to raise funds to support special causes in their community. To date, the Party on the Dock has raised over $500,000 for the Midland community! They also organize “Music in the Park” every weekend in July and August at Little Lake. The club works collaboratively with the Rotary Club of Penetanguishene to run a golf tournament in August to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation. And in October, you’ll find Midland Rotarians working with the Midland Legion to host a big Oktoberfest party with all of the funds going to support Hospice Huronia. One of their ongoing fundraisers is the Midland Rotary TV Bingo which is a weekly event. Another hands on project to support the community is a hamper project before Christmas to support those who need some extra help for the holidays. This year they packed over 100 hampers.

The Rotary Club of Midland is a strong supporter of the Youth Exchange Program. This year, they welcomed Nicco Jenni from Switzerland into their Club and community. Meet Nicco by checking out this video: https://www.facebook.com/RotaryClubofMidland/videos/334723313966649/. While you’re on the Midland Rotary Facebook page, check out some of their “My Rotary Moment” videos. These videos feature club members sharing their “Rotary moment” and why they are in Rotary. What a great way to share Rotary and encourage others to get involved.

If you are ever in the Midland area, please consider doing a make-up at the Rotary Club of Midland. Meetings take place on the first 3 Wednesdays of the month at 12:15 at the Midland Cultural Centre at 333 King Street in Midland.
