The president of the Rotary Club of North Muskoka this year is Steve Lavigne. The club serves the Huntsville area and currently has 20 members.

One of the club’s best community projects is the “Helping Hungry Students” project. This project involves a great partnership between North Muskoka Rotarians and the local high school.

The club has offered a hot lunch to Huntsville High School students 3 times a week for the past 5 years. One of the reasons that the event is so successful is because of the strong partnerships with both the school and The Table Soup Kitchen. This year’s “Helping Hungry Students” chair is Lorraine Chartrand who would be happy to provide details to interested Rotarians. This Rotary Club has also participated in the District Community Service project which involves supporting the local children’s rehabilitation centre. They have made a contribution to One Kids Place and invited a representative to tell them more about the services offered by the centre.

In terms of international service, members of the Rotary Club of North Muskoka have supported HHART financially as well as with volunteers. Last year, 3 members travelled to the Dominican Republic as part of the HHART team. The Rotary Club of North Muskoka is also a partner club in the District International project, R.E.L.A.Y. (Rotarians Enhancing Learning of African Youth), a project in Zambia led by the Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes.

If you are in the Huntsville area early on a Thursday morning, please consider doing a make-up at the Rotary Club of North Muskoka. The club meets at 7am at the Soul Sistas Restaurant at 68 West Road in Huntsville.
